The shipment is half the product
Wholesale salt is a low-value, high-weight cargo: freight and paperwork decide the landed cost as much as the grade does. This page sets out how a Bortera Salt shipment is quoted, documented and moved.
At a glance
Roughly 23–27 t palletized. Grades can be mixed within a container.
From cleared payment to loading. Transit starts after that.
To the main European ports; about a week by truck to neighbouring land markets.
Port of loading is chosen per destination and named in the offer.
Transit times
Loading runs three days from cleared payment, and the transit below starts from there — so a container ordered on Monday is typically alongside in Genoa inside ten days.
| Destination | Mode | Transit |
|---|---|---|
| Genoa · Salerno · Naples · Varna | Sea, FCL | 4 days |
| Rest of Europe & United Kingdom | Sea, FCL | 3–7 days |
| Serbia, Ukraine and neighbouring land markets | Truck | About 1 week |
These are indicative figures: the real number follows the sailing schedule and the port pair on the day. Vessel-scale volumes move breakbulk on their own timetable. For a firm date — or for a destination not listed here — send us the port or delivery address and it comes back with the offer.
Incoterms 2020
Offers are prepared on the term you work with. The further down this list you go, the more of the chain we carry — and the fewer moving parts you price yourself.
Document set
Every shipment travels with the paperwork your customs broker and your QA team need. Anything specific to your market is agreed at order stage, not discovered at the port.
Per shipment, matched to the container and pallet count.
Issued for the agreed mode and Incoterm.
Chamber-certified; A.TR movement certificate for the EU customs union, EUR.1 where a preferential regime applies.
Lot-specific, issued before loading — the same parameters published on the product page.
For food grades, to the destination market’s requirement.
Quality, environmental and food-safety certification of the chain, available with your documentation pack on request.
Season planning
De-icing is the one product where the calendar prices the deal. Pre-season contracting from late spring to early autumn secures rate and vessel space; in-season spot supply depends on availability and is always the more expensive way to buy.
